Systems Administrator
- Possesses strong inter-personal and communication skills; is capable of explaining complex procedures in writing or verbally, training users in applications, writing documentation, has excellent phone skills. Independent problem solving; self-direction. Is able to follow instructions well with excellent attention to detail. Ability to solve problems quickly and completely.
- Proficient with Linux, Mac OS and Windows and their commands/utilities at a administrative level; can use a shell and resolve complex system and network issues.
- Experience with internetworking UNIX and other operating systems (MS-DOS, Macintosh OS).
- Proficiency building and maintaining server virtualization systems such as Xen and Vmware.
- Experience administrating various Internet server services such as DNS, HTTP, TFTP, FTP, SMTP, POP3, IMAP4, etc.
- Experience with open source VOIP systems, SIP trunking and associated hardware.
- Networking Skills - Experience configuring network file systems such as AFS and SMB, TCP/IP networking protocols, non-TCP/IP networking protocols, high-speed and highly complex TCP/IP networks.
- Experience at a site that is connected to the Internet and administrating associated technologies such as Cisco routers and switchgear as well as complex, multi-AP WIFI networks.
- Hardware - Experience installing and maintaining computer systems and network cabling in use at the site, installing boards and memory into systems, board-level diagnosis and repair of computer systems.
- Previous experience in customer support, computer operations, system administration or another related area.
- One to three years of college or equivalent post-high-school education or experience.
- A degree or certificate in computer science or a related field.
- Experience in electronic prepress production environments; Postscript RIP's, desktop publishing applications, graphic arts concepts and terminology. Ability to diagnose and propose solutions to common electronic prepress problems and workflow issues.
Appropriate Responsibilities:
- Administration of a mid-sized site. Works under the general supervision of a project manager.
- Acts as a front-line interface to users, accepting trouble reports and resolving issues.
- Initiates new responsibilities and helps to plan for the future of the site/network.
